Description
The “Superilla” is a radical project that shapes the present and future of Barcelona, a city that has long been leading urban innovation. Such a project reorganizes urban mobility in structural form, ultimately prioritizing people over the needs of vehicles. This publication provides an interdisciplinary analysis of such a unique venture, exploring urban, social, and environmental aspects of urban transformation. It highlights the project’s qualities and potential criticalities and gives valuable guidance for other cities that wish to implement similar initiatives. The book, copublished with the Ayuntamiento de Barcelona, includes a number of essays by or interviews with key professionals who were directly and indirectly involved in the project’s implementation and analysis -e.g., Salvador Rueda and Joseph Bohigas- and it is enriched with pictures by Stefano Ferrando.
